(8) The structure supporting the lights over the Garage Driveway is made of electrical and natural gas pipping. The verticals are supported using 4 foot steal stakes submerged two feet into the ground. The original design and engineering began in the middle of summer and 100 degree heat. The structure seen today is the third design iteration. It has survived a wind storm with 50 mph gusts. Assembly each season takes roughly 7 hours.
(9) The adjusting colored lights trimming out the garage door are the first foray into making the display better each season. They were added 5 years ago. They are my wife’s least favorite part of the display. The garage door banner is this year’s latest edition.
(10) Most interesting note about the roof: it claims a pair of jeans every year. Ever fall off of a roof? I haven’t. Don’t plan to either. I do not walk on the roof much. I slide around on my bum. The roof tiles are hard on denim. Setting up and then breaking down each season takes a toll on those jeans. When breakdown is finally completed, the pants have several holes in the seat. The display season’s final activity is dropping those jeans into the trash.
